Madeira Theme Park
The Madeira Theme Park in Santana is one of a kind in Portugal. It is a fantastic exhibition centre devoted to the history, science and traditions of the Madeira Archipelago. It occupies an area of 145,000 square metres and is a must for all visitors.
The park’s main attraction is its four multimedia pavilions.
In the Discovery of the Islands pavilion visitors relive the voyage of discovery of the archipelago’s islands. They take a trip that is brought to life by scenery, projections, lighting and sound effects that give the attraction a spectacular, fabulous quality.
At the Future of the Earth pavilion we can see a dazzling multimedia show reminding us of the need to protect and preserve the environment.
The Fantastic Journey in Madeira pavilion puts on a show accompanying the adventures of a honeymoon couple in Madeira in an exciting trip through the spectacular landscapes of Madeira and Porto Santo, combining beauty and thrills.
The World of Islands, Islands of the World pavilion talks about the history and culture of the islands in a varied exhibition of illustrated panels and videos explaining the origin of life, the discovery, humankind and nature, sugar, wine, tourism and Madeira today.
A replica of the Monte train, the traditional oxcarts and nets, a typical Santana house, a windmill, a maze and a lake are some of the park’s other attractions.
The gardens with local Madeiran flora and footpaths are another asset to this cultural and scientific attraction.
